Preikestolen

Preikestolen  is a giant cliff with an almost flat top of about 25 meters by 25 meters, located opposite the Kjerag plateau in Norway. Preikestolen means  a "preacher's pulpit" and it has the name Pulpit Rock (Rock-chair) in English. It offers a magnificent view, thanks to which the rock is known as one of the main natural attractions of Norway.

The cliff rises up to 604 meters above the Lysefjord (the fjord is a narrow sea bay with rocky shores) formed under the action of glaciers about 10,000 years ago.  After the glacier retreated, a giant crack appeared that filled water. The  rock walls along the edges of the fjord are at a height of 1 kilometer above the water level and the maximum depth of the fjord is 422 meters.
