 Kawah Ijen Volcano

Kawah Ijen volcano is located on the east of the island of Java. The way to this place is not easy and the landscape is unhappy: there is an open area with sparse vegetation, stony paths and ... an unpleasant smell of sulfur. It seems that this smell made lifeless the slopes of the ridge. You expect to see a volcano with the current lava, but instead you will see a huge funnel which is two hundred meters deep. At the bottom of this funnel there is the world's largest acid lake. Instead of water there is pure sulfuric acid in it, so those people who want to see this unusual lake should be very careful. The diameter of the lake is one kilometer. When the sun shines brightly, it is turquoise and looks really beautiful. On its shores you can see bright yellow blocks - it's sulfur. Poisonous gas vapors are released into the air through the cracks. You can see sulfur deposits near water and a little farther.

When it is dark, the caldera of the volcano looks completely fantastic. Liquid sulfur flares up. The gas produces electrical blue flashes, sometimes they can reach up to 5 meters high. Some particles of the burning gas condense into liquid sulfur, which creates a mysterious blue flaming liquid.
